Full-Year Boarding Programs
Full-year boarding programs combine 10+ months of residential tennis training with an academic curriculum, giving committed junior players a complete environment to develop both on and off the court.
These programs typically include 20-25 hours of weekly training, tournament travel and coaching, fitness and mental training, and full accommodation and supervision, making them the most immersive option for families ready to commit to a full season or academic year.
A typical day starts earlier than most families expect, often with training on court by mid-morning to beat the heat, followed by academic classes woven through the middle of the day rather than bolted on afterward, and a second training or fitness block in the late afternoon. Evenings tend to be shorter than a normal school night once dinner, homework, and recovery are factored in, and weekends often include tournament travel rather than genuinely free time.
Deciding whether boarding is the right move is rarely just a tennis question. It's worth being honest about whether a specific child is ready for the independence it requires, not just their level on court, what the move means for the rest of the family at home, and what backup plan exists if a placement doesn't work out on the first try. Academies that handle the social and emotional adjustment well, structured check-ins, assigned mentors, a deliberate settling-in process, tend to see far fewer kids struggle with homesickness than those that leave it to happen on its own.
When comparing specific programs, the details that matter most rarely show up on a marketing page: the actual coach-to-player ratio for the group your child would be placed in, whether the academic curriculum is accredited and transfers credits internationally, and a full cost breakdown beyond the headline tuition figure.
