About This Program
This program is run by Bardou Tennis Competition, founded and directed by Jordi Bardou — a former Davis Cup player for Spain, 1984 Los Angeles Olympian, 1984 Spanish National Champion, and former ATP top-150 player. Head Coach Ricard Ros has spent 22 years at Bruguera Tennis Academy and has coached ATP-ranked players including Lorenzo Giustino (career-high #130) and Mohammed Safwat (career-high #170, former #1 in Egypt). Training takes place at Can Vía Racket Club in Sant Just Desvern, just outside Barcelona, with 11 courts (hard and clay), paddle tennis courts, a gym, a swimming pool, and an on-site school and residence. The residence includes TV, heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, laundry service, and a restaurant — a 5-minute walk from the tennis campus, with central Barcelona around 15 minutes away by bus, metro, or train. Training is built around four pillars — technical, physical, tactical/strategic, and mental — with sports psychology included as a standard part of the program rather than an add-on. The annual program runs Monday through Saturday with up to 22 hours of tennis per week, plus daily physical training sessions. Nutrition, physiotherapy, and podiatry support are also available. Players compete year-round in UTR-verified tournaments, including national events, Tennis Europe 12/14/16, the ITF Circuit, and the Rafael Nadal Circuit. The academy handles tournament registration and scheduling, and provides an on-site coach for technical support during competitions. Academics run alongside training through either the Spanish system (ESO/Bachillerato) or an American high school curriculum, both officially accredited by the Generalitat de Catalunya and internationally valid. Through a partnership with Decoasports, players aged 11–22 also get support with US university sports scholarship placement, including SAT and TOEFL preparation.
